Steve Crease ![]() I was a late starter in karate but my interest in martial arts began at an early age when my grandfather tried to teach me boxing. Unfortunately I lacked the confidence to join the local boxing club and it went no further. When I was about ten I discovered oriental martial arts when Kung Fu hit the TV screen. My friends and I all wanted to be kung fu masters and were transformed into high kicking martial artists. This phase soon passed but the interest in oriental martial arts remained. When in 2002 a friend announced that he had started karate training with Yoseikan, I took the opportunity to join him. I remember how we struggled to achieve five press ups at the first lesson and watched in amazement as the higher grades performed their katas. At the time I thought I would never be that good but within weeks I felt fitter and was performing my first kata. YKA has provided me with the perfect blend of fitness, self-defence and personal development. I feel fitter and more supple than ever, my confidence has increased and I am continually learning new skills. I am looking forward to the next part of the journey
